Ryan NYP 46-Foot Wooden Wing Structure and Internal Truss Assembly (1927)

A primary engineering construction photograph capturing the uncovered wooden wing framework of the Ryan NYP Spirit of St. Louis inside the Ryan Airlines factory loft. Photographed from above against a white drop cloth, the structure details Donald A. Hall Sr.'s high-aspect-ratio Clark Y wing design, featuring built-up Sitka spruce truss ribs, front and rear solid spruce spar beams, and internal drag wire cross-bracing. The curved mahogany plywood leading-edge skin is shown wrapping the nose ribs, alongside the central wing cutouts engineered to accommodate auxiliary fuel tanks.
