Ryan NYP Underside Left Wing Registration N-X-211 Detail (May 1927)

A dramatic low-angle archival photograph taken near the port landing wheel of the Spirit of St. Louis looking up at the underside of the left wing. The composition prominently displays the large black painted registration letters "N-X-211" across the fabric-doped wing surface. The view also captures the Clark Y wing curvature, lift strut attachment points, the Wright Whirlwind engine, and the tail skid resting on the unpaved airfield.
