Dutch Flats Airfield Overview with Spirit of St. Louis in Flight Circuit (1927)

A panoramic documentary photograph showing the expanse of Dutch Flats during flight trials in late April or early May 1927. In the foreground, an airfield support plane and Ryan ground personnel stand on the dirt apron, while high in the center of the frame, the Spirit of St. Louis is captured flying in the circuit overhead. The horizon reveals an industrial smokestack emitting smoke, utility poles, and commercial waterfront buildings framing the historic San Diego airfield.
