Ryan NYP Cockpit Fuel Plumbing Manifold and Selector Valves (1927) · Donald A. Hall Estate Collection

An archival master engineering photograph detailing the fuel distribution manifold located directly below the instrument board inside the Spirit of St. Louis. Designed and calculated by Donald A. Hall Sr., this intricate system of brass cross-feed valves, shut-off levers, and copper supply lines enabled Charles Lindbergh to select and balance fuel flow between the 425-gallon main tank, nose tank, and wing tanks, maintaining center-of-gravity stability throughout the transatlantic flight.
