Ryan Airlines Factory and Engineering Personnel with the Spirit of St. Louis (April 1927)

The definitive panoramic group photograph of the Ryan Airlines workforce assembled on the field at Dutch Flats, San Diego, in late April 1927. Standing along the entire 46-foot wingspan of the completed Ryan NYP Spirit of St. Louis (N-X-211), the portrait includes Chief Engineer Donald A. Hall Sr., President B. F. Mahoney, shop superintendent Bert Tindale, metal fabrication lead Fred Rohr, assembly craftsmen, fabric coverers, welders, and administrative staff. This historic image commemorates the collective industrial achievement of building the transatlantic record aircraft in sixty days.
