Elisabeth Hall and Friends at the Giant Sequoia Drive-Through Tunnel Tree (Circa 1930)

A vintage outdoor travel snapshot capturing Elisabeth Hall and two female companions during an expedition to California's giant sequoias. The women pose beside a late-1920s Ford Model A rumble-seat coupe parked directly at the entrance of a massive hollowed drive-through tree tunnel, while a second automobile passes through the carved trunk behind them. Preserved in the Hall family archives, this photograph documents recreational automobile tourism in the national parks during the interwar era.
