Donald A. Hall Estate Collection
Southwestern Adobe Dwelling and Railroad Siding (Circa 1926)

Documenting the historic vernacular architecture of the American Southwest during his travels between Texas and California, Donald A. Hall Sr. photographed this traditional sun-dried adobe brick building. The structure features projecting peeled-log vigas, mud plaster revealing underlying brick masonry, and a young child peeking from the timber doorframe. A municipal fire hydrant and nearby Southern Pacific railroad freight cars frame the building against a distant volcanic mountain peak.
