Passenger Bus on Hairpin Switchback of California Incline (1927)

Documenting coastal transit and civil infrastructure in 1927, Donald A. Hall Sr. captured a vintage motorcoach carefully negotiating the steep hairpin switchback descending the Santa Monica Palisades toward the coast highway. The unpaved roadway cut through sheer sandstone cliffs illustrates early vehicular access to Southern California beaches.
