Lindbergh Plotting the Transatlantic Charts (1927)

An intimate 1927 behind-the-scenes photograph of Charles Lindbergh at the drafting table. Having zero experience navigating over large bodies of water, and famously refusing to ask Navy pilots at North Island for help to avoid ridicule, Lindbergh painstakingly taught himself and manually plotted his own original Great Circle routes.
