Inside the Spirit of St. Louis in Flight (1927)

A first-person view looking out the side window of the Spirit of St. Louis in flight, showing the wing struts and the city of San Diego far below. — Inside the Spirit of St. Louis in Flight (1927) · Donald A. Hall Estate Collection

An extraordinarily rare, first-person perspective taken by Donald A. Hall Sr. from inside the finished Spirit of St. Louis in flight over San Diego! As documented in the official flight logs currently held at the Missouri Historical Society, Hall rode sitting on the armrest of the wicker pilot's chair while Charles Lindbergh piloted the legendary aircraft.
