Documenting coastal California architecture during his second engineering tenure at Douglas Aircraft, Donald A. Hall Sr. photographed the historic Hotel Windermere by the Sea on Ocean Avenue in Santa Monica. The Mediterranean Revival building features twin square bell-towers with arched miradors, lush Canary Island date palms, and vintage touring sedans parked along the Pacific Electric streetcar tracks overlooking Palisades Park.
