Aerial View of Historic Hotel Del Mar and Coastal Rail Siding (Circa 1928)

An aerial view looking over an aircraft wing down at the historic Tudor-style Hotel Del Mar, coastal railroad tracks, and ocean bluffs. — Aerial View of Historic Hotel Del Mar and Coastal Rail Siding (Circa 1928) · Donald A. Hall Estate Collection

Piloting along the San Diego coastline during flight evaluations, Donald A. Hall Sr. captured this aerial view looking past his aircraft's wing directly at the historic Hotel Del Mar in Del Mar, California. The negative clearly shows the prominent Hotel Del Mar sign on the hillside, the half-timbered Tudor-style resort buildings, the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe railway depot with boxcars on the siding, and the manicured walking stairways descending the coastal bluffs to the beach.
