Head-On Frontal Profile of Hall X-1 Prototype on Flight Line (1928)

Donald A. Hall Sr. captured this direct, symmetrical frontal view of the completed Hall X-1 prototype parked on an expansive dirt flight line. The composition provides an engineer's assessment of frontal cross-sectional area, showing the two-blade wooden propeller, pointed aerodynamic nose spinner, radial engine cylinders, and inverted V-struts supporting the low wings. The wide-track split-axle landing gear reflects the rugged ground handling Hall designed into his aircraft for unimproved turf airfields.
