Centerline Rear Perspective of Hall X-1 and Aft-Wing Stabilator (1928)

Taken from directly behind the empennage, Donald A. Hall Sr. composed this precise centerline alignment study of the Hall X-1 prototype on an open dirt landing field. The composition highlights the broad, elliptical horizontal aft-wing stabilator, the central balanced rudder, and the forward low wings marked with registration X7621. This photograph provided structural verification of the tandem lifting surfaces, which were designed to eliminate conventional tail-stall tendencies by generating positive lift across the entire pitch range.
