Enclosed-Cabin Commercial Biplane Transport Wooden Display Model (Circa 1923) · Donald A. Hall Estate Collection

Contrasting his heavy military bomber work, Donald A. Hall Sr. documented this polished black wooden scale model of an early single-engine commercial passenger biplane. Featuring a streamlined fuselage, a fully enclosed passenger cabin with rectangular side windows, an aerodynamic nose spinner, and single-bay biplane wings with streamlined landing gear, the design reflects early 1920s efforts to transition commercial aviation toward enclosed passenger comfort. This study illustrates Hall's evolving interest in commercial transport design that culminated in his engineering of the Ryan B-1 Brougham.
