Handwritten draft letter from Donald A. Hall Sr. to Fitzhugh Green at Putnam's Sons written from the High Sierras in September 1927. — Donald A. Hall Sr. Draft Letter to Putnam's Sons with "WE" Errata (1927) · Donald A. Hall Estate Collection

A critical historical document written in pencil by Donald A. Hall Sr. on San Diego YMCA stationery in September 1927, addressed to publisher Fitzhugh Green at G.P. Putnam's Sons. Hall explains that he is on a month-long backcountry vacation in the High Sierras resting from his grueling work at Ryan Airlines, describes reading "WE" in camp, provides a list of technical misprints to correct in future printings, and requests four autographed copies for Lindbergh's upcoming visit to San Diego on September 21, 1927. This letter conclusively anchors the timing of Hall's entire Yosemite and Sierra wilderness expedition.
