Winding Dirt Road Through Dense Pine Forest (1927)

A vertical view of a winding dirt road cutting through a dense mountain forest of tall ponderosa pines, with bright sunlight highlighting tree bark. — Winding Dirt Road Through Dense Pine Forest (1927) · Donald A. Hall Estate Collection

Sunlight pierces a dense mountain pine forest in this vertical 1927 composition. Donald A. Hall Sr. expertly balanced his exposure to record fine texture on the shaded ponderosa bark while following the unpaved road as it twisted deeper into the alpine canopy.
