Charles A. Lindbergh Letter Affirming Donald Hall's Sole Engineering Leadership - Page 2 (1939)

Page 2 of the December 4, 1939 letter containing one of the most powerful testimonials in aerospace history. Lindbergh details the operational chain of command during the construction of the Spirit of St. Louis: executive matters were handled with Mahoney and Edwards, construction was managed by Hawley Bowlus, while all engineering contacts were exclusively with Donald Hall. Lindbergh declares: "Your own ability, attention to detail, and untiring effort were certainly the leading factors." He also recalls discussing droppable streamline fuel tanks and droppable landing gear with Hall to maximize range.
