Charles A. Lindbergh Letter Detailing Engine Inspection and Overhaul - Page 3 (1927)

Page 3 of the December 5, 1927 letter detailing the mechanical inspection of the Spirit of St. Louis following the completion of its grueling 22,235-mile national tour. Lindbergh reports that both the airframe and the Wright J-5C Whirlwind motor were found to be in excellent condition with virtually no replacements required, noting that while the cylinder valves were ground, the internal engine components showed negligible wear.
