Aerial Perspective Over Wing Leading Edge During Flight Test (Circa 1928)

Captured from the cockpit during an aerodynamic evaluation flight, Donald A. Hall Sr. documented this high-angle perspective looking along the leading edge of a fabric-covered wing. The negative reveals the internal rib stitching, plywood leading-edge sheeting, and wingtip curvature framed against the flat agricultural fields and flight corridors of Southern California. As an aerodynamicist, Hall used in-flight photography to evaluate boundary-layer flow and pilot visibility angles.
