The Science of Aviation @ West-MEC, sponsored by Honeywell, is a free event open to anyone interested in learning how STEM principles are applied in the aviation and aerospace industries.
Visitors will get a firsthand look at several types of aircraft and equipment. Kids will have the opportunity to make paper airplanes and enter contests for prizes. A panel discussion will feature experts from Honeywell and West-MEC discussing careers in aviation and aerospace.
Attendees will also experience an art exhibit, Flying Over Time, showcasing antiques from the engineer of the Spirit of St. Louis, the airplane in which Charles Lindbergh piloted solo across the Atlantic Ocean in 1927. The exhibition’s director, Nova Hall, calls his exhibit a blend of art, history and aviation science. Nova Hall prototyped this collection and exhibition at ASU and has lived in Arizona for over 25 years.
